Hotels In Myitkyina

myitkyina Capital of Kachin State in the north of the country is a pleasantly situated town on a broad valley surrounded by hills. Hsu Taung Pyit Zeditaw is a pretty, gilded, ‘wish-fulfilling’ stupa on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River. The larger Andawshin Paya boasts a silver-plated zedi said to contain tooth relics and a Buddha footprint; there are a couple of adjacent monasteries. Myit-son, the confluence of the Mekha and Malika Rivers, 45km north of town, forms the beginning of the great Ayeyarwaddy River. The area just became recently accessible to tourists and invites travellers to enter the jade mining centre of Pakkan and the huge Indawgyi Lake. The most popular souvenir among visitors is the dark indigo and green Kachin longyi.
